1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY THIS MONTH TO: Rick Wilson on the 10th, Leo Monahan on the 19th and Herman Mueller on the 31st.
2. Don’t forget to go to www.USSVI.org and vote online in the National Elections. I have decided to endorse our current Central Region Director, Carl Schmidt for National Commander. If you can’t vote online, I will have conventional ballots at the July & August meetings. Also I have decided to endorse Wayne Standerfer for the Central District #2 Commander. Please check your recent issue of the American Submariner for more information.
3. USS WISCONSIN (SSN908) 2010 PARADE COMMITMENTS. In July we have two back-to-back events starting with the Kenosha Civic Veterans Parade (4 July – Sponsored by the Navy Club – Ship 40 in Memory of Paul Shockley), and the Racine 4th Fest Parade (5 July Sponsored by the Navy Club – Ship 60). Call Gary’s cell (414)688-8686 or Scott’s (262)818-3400 to find out where we will be at exactly for muster on both days. Also, an email will go out on the broadcast the day before with muster details. That brings us to the Wisconsin State Fair on 15 August. If you don’t have email and are interested in participating, call Gary Walters at (262) 363-2193 for info. Prior to each event the details will go out on the email broadcast.
4. MESS COOK WATCHBILL. Thanks go out to Steve & Sherry Thompson for lunch last month. We need volunteers!
5. 2010 USSVI National Convention. August 30 - September 6, 2010. The host is the Cincinnati Base. The convention hotel is the Drawbridge Inn in @ Fort Mitchell, Ky. The contact SubVet is Roger Crombie (email* pigboat1@who.rr.com) and the web site is www.2010convention.cincysubvets.com.
6. Our duty Storekeeper Larry Heckelsmiller has his display of “ships-store” merchandise at every meeting. This isn’t an easy task. He needs a 5 man working-party to get it all inside and setup. The small profits from these sales go directly into the base treasury. A great way to help us stay “neutrally buoyant!”
